The Galaxy Quest Restoration Project

The Galaxy Quest Restoration Project is a fan-made audio drama series that creates episodes of the (never actually produced) science fiction television series Galaxy Quest, from the movie of the same name.1)

In 1979, a show hit the airwaves that changed the way in which American audiences would view science fiction on prime-time television. Set in the near future, Galaxy Quest followed a small band of intrepid explorers reaching out to farthest depths of the universe. Each week audiences would follow them into danger, mystery and romance as they meet strange new races and bond friendships. The crew of the N.S.E.A. protector adventurously went from the Monday pre-film at 11 slot to prime-time Saturday viewing. With an average Neilsen rating of 24.5, coming second only to CBS's primetime show MASH. Galaxy Quests main genre competition was with NBC's Buck Rogers in the 25th Century at the time since ABC's Battlestar Galactica had just finished it's second and final season. After the show was cancelled in 1982 due to negotiations failed to renew contracts with the cast. The show disappeared into oblivion whilst fans campaigned to have the show resumed, it failed to have any effect. Fast forward to 2012 and an old studio basement in uptown L.A. the original video tapes of the shows where found - the only ones known to be in existence. These tapes however had become damaged and Fictionshed's Mike Morley handed to media restoration expert, James Johnson of Johnson's Media Factory of Avon Lake Ohio. This is where the Galaxy Quest Restoration Project began..

Fictionshed are proud to present a free to download fan-made audio comedy/drama revealing the early adventures of the crew of the N.S.E.A Protector. Starring: Karim C Kronfli as Cmdr Peter Q Taggart, Jen Rhodes as Lt. Tawny Madison, Tony Lunn as Dr. Lazarus, Susan J Ritta as Loredo and Rick Moyer as Tech Sergeant Chen.
